Rarely visit the post office, but went in for a simple change of address form. I'm fully aware I could have filled it out online, but why pay for it when I live close enough to stop in and fill it out. The line did move pretty quickly, which you have to wait in line to receive the form. Upon asking for the form, the attendant immediately told me, "Next time you can do this online to save the wait. Drop it off in the mail when you're done." The last time I did my change of address, the person was nice enough to hand me a pen, and had me step to the side to fill it out while they served another person. He was completely rude and if I felt like telling the attendant that, but chose to leave.
Now I understand the many negative reviews for this post office. Expected my package today. Checked the mail box, no package. Checked online tracking and it states: "Your item is being held at the DENVER, CO 80228 post office at 2:57 pm on August 11, 2017. The item was removed from a full parcel locker." The locker was not full. It also stated "Ready for Pickup". So, since I live fairly close, I decided to go pick it up. There was no line and an Asian lady called me to the desk. I explained my package was here to be picked up. She interrupted me mid-sentence and said "where is my card?". I did not have a card and attempted to show her a screen shot of the website and that it was here and I was here to pick it up. She proceeded to argue with me about how tracking online is not "correct". I patiently tried to explain the situation again, but she immediately cut me off again and said "Call the boss". I usually let things like this slide, but I decided to call the "boss" since I could barely understand her broken English anyways. A gentleman answered and I had to re-explain the situation. He was actually pretty nice about it and said to meet him inside at the double dutch door. I came back in, sat down, and then another grouchy looking lady stared directly at me and said: "Now What!?". I was shocked! I said "what do you mean now what? I just want my package..." Finally the "boss" man came to the door. He was my only positive experience but failed to find my package. He took my info and told me he'd call me tomorrow. I cannot believe how rude and unhelpful the 2 women were that were supposed to be customer service people. Like I was bothering them or whatever. BOO to the front desk female employees!!!!
Although I have been to this location to ship packages and found it to be crammed with people and wait times of over an hour with one person helping over 20. BUT.... in the end with all the public dictating GREED over public services we are left with this nonsense. From Bush destroying the health insurance program for the postal workers to the shameful pay rate of 11 - 13 an hour for postal delivery and crew. Sorry right wing Amerika, shape up and get in the game or stop complaining about the results. The employees in my experience living in a metro setting and not suburbia has been just fine and the mail is here regardless of weather and never damaged. Kudos everyone at the post office in Lakewood, well done!
Reading some of the other reviews, I as well must say the entire staff on clock today was extremely rude and patronizing to any question you ask them. We waited inline for 30 minutes PAST our scheduled appointment. There was another couple in front of us that they skipped over and were very rude to as well. Once we got to the desk, our attendant said she didn’t see us on the list, and said she had to go to the back to check something else. 15 min later she still hadn’t come back, and we eventually left.
If I could give a 0 star rating, I would.
I don’t see why postal workers are notorious for having bad attitudes and horrible work ethic.
Had an important package supposed to be delivered yesterday. It says delivery was attempted ten minutes before the package was placed in the bin at the post office. Well that's funny, must mean he/she didn't try at all. I stayed home all day and put things off for this package. Today, when I tried to call, there was no answer, it just rang and rang until I gave up. So, in short the post office doesn't do what they say they do, they lie, and they make me go to the post office for something we paid to have delivered. Defeating the entire point of using them to begin with. If I could rate this place zero stars I would. The USPS wasn't even good enough to remain in Federal service, even though they were one of the first government services. They have gotten lax, and terrible at their job. They feel entitled and just work to keep their pension. Go to the UPS store, or FedEx.
